Confession!

My head has been turned...I have been charmed by a male with huge, dark, brown eyes and shining hair...I have always fancied the coloring of my sweet hubbie...dark hair and blue eyes but this fellow has captured my heart!! He is my new neighbor and I look forward to seeing him every day on my walks through The Glen. I call greetings to him and he is always polite and so pleased to see me. He does not say much but he is excellent company and a perfect gentleman.
His name is Uptown Wheesy. He loves to have his cheeks rubbed...isn't he handsome??

Theme Thursday ~ Limo ride anyone???

When I think of a Limo I think of an elegant, luxurious car. I prefer the older models...they have more character than the madly popular Hummer limousines. This Limousine is hired by someone in glamorous clothing in need of a respectable ride to a special event or gala.
This vintage model comes complete with a driver I fondly call...Bixby.

THIS is MY limousine...ummmm, made by Dodge. It comes with sticky arm rests and Cheerios and pretzels UNDER the seats!

It tends to get a large amount of bugs SMEARED on the windows.

It is available with a cow catcher but I opted out on that one...too expensive!

This is OUR driver we fondly call MISTER Sam.He wears platform shoes to reach the pedals. Don't worry he has a perfect driving record.

Twas the night before school...

This is a repost from last year but it still holds true tonight. I have to admit...I am a bit anxious about the first day of school too!!!!

Okay...they are ALL in bed...asleep?? I don't think so...the excitement is OOZING out their bedroom doors...they all looked a little like our friend above!

Here is a little ditty from Natasha Wing:

Twas the night before school
and as they prepared,
kids were excited
and a little bit scared.

They tossed and they turned
about in their beds,
while visions of school supplies
danced in their heads.

Erasers and crayons
and pencils galore
were stuffed in their backbacks
and set by the door.

Out fits were hung
in the closets with care
knowing that school
soon would be there.

In the morning it came-
school starts today!
Would the teacher be nice?
Would they still get to play?

Faces were washed,
and teeth were brushed white;
kids posed for pictures
with eyes sparkling bright.

Parents packed snacks,
and kids hopped in cars
as if they were boarding
a spaceship to Mars.

The teacher then greeted
each one with a smile,
and invited the students
to stay for awhile.

When what to her wondering eyes
should appear
but sad moms and dads
who were holding back tears!

Their noses - so sniffly!
Their eyes - red and wet!
This was the saddest good bye
Ms. Teacher had seen yet!

The children all waved
from the door of the school.
"Don't cry, Mom and Dad;
School is just too cool!!"

Summer's bounty...

DELICIOUS!!!

The reality of it is, you HAVE to LIVE in the space...

I love an organized house...I take GREAT pleasure in keeping things orderly. I also enjoy reading about art, decorating, books, organization and the like. When we moved to Killeny Glen I asked my dad to make a locker/cubbie system for our mud room to keep our daily lives organized. He made an excellent piece of furniture but I am realizing that keeping it LOOKING like a magazine photograph is really NOT living. The magazine photos do not have five kids and two adults coming in and out MANY times a day with all kinds of items that seven people of all different ages would want to carry in and out of a house! WHEW! I will say that my kids collect and bring home some pretty weird stuff that ultimately ends up in their cubbies:

~Crocs, flip flops, slippers, boots, socks, and every breed of foot apparel known to mankind!
~ The girls' personal BLING (necklaces, bracelets, hair clips and ribbons) from every party they have attended in the last month along with lip gloss, pens, pencils, and other miscellaneous office supplies.
~ Silly putty, trains, cars, a granola bar (you COULD get hungry taking off your shoes!)
~ BAGS! Purses! Athletic equipment.
~ Sweatshirts ...a dead bug! WHAT?!?
The kids keep their junk, no, I MEAN their treasures in their appointed area so WHAT am I complaining about??!!!!!

School starts this week...I think I am ready to RE-CLAIM the house again!!

By the way...today is Hubbie's birthday...I KNOW he will come by to visit at some point today and I want him to know he is VERY WELL LOVED today and EVERY DAY!!!
Twenty-nine again Babe???

Theme Thursday....s~h~a~d~o~w

As a child...I oftentimes would come up the basement steps and get that prickly feeling on the back of my neck and a shadowy movement out of the corner of my eye, my adrenaline kicking in at an amazing rate causing me to run, rather, FLY up the remainder of those steps...so as not to LET the shadow reach out and touch the back of my heel! Those steps that seemed to go on quite endlessly! Oh, but sweet relief to arrive at the LIGHT at the top leaving the shadows of the staircase behind! When alone...our imaginations can become even more creative...and a walk up a simple staircase...traveled hundreds of times becomes full of shadow and movement...oh admit it...you have run haven't you??

Intolerant Tuesday???

Okay...I admit it readily...I was a KISS fan back in the day...truly I was...fond memories...my brother owned the albums and we listened a lot. I know my parents thought long and hard about how they felt about that freaky looking group and their kids thinking they were SO COOL! Rob perfected his air guitar skills and entertained me to many a KISS song. Gene Simmons has his reality show...then KISS performed on American Idol....now they are releasing a new album. Personally...it is painful for me to watch. Am I the only one that feels like I should have a heart to heart with Gene and tell him to retire and let that era live without trying to re-invent himself or his posse???

The pleasures of summer

1.) Mitchell's short fringe of bangs that turns completely white blonde in summer sun and chlorinated water. (his hair is typically a darker brown)
2.) Juice running down your arm delicious tomatoes straight from the garden...still warm from the sun.
3.) Catching minnows and crawdad's while wading in the creek.

4.) Sitting outside for absolutely NO REASON.
5.) Staying up late as we do not have to get up or go anywhere the next morning.
6.) Catching Lightning Bugs
7.) Listening to the bull frogs from the creek as darkness falls.

8.) Impromptu trips to the Dairy for ice cream.
9.) Corn on the Cob

10.) NO HOMEWORK!

Only one week until school starts! WHERE did the summer go??

THEME THURSDAY - sweet KISS!

This day and age we're living in
Gives cause for apprehension
With speed and new invention
And things like fourth dimension.

Yet we get a trifle weary
With Mr. Einstein's theory.
So we must get down to earth at times
Relax relieve the tension

And no matter what the progress
Or what may yet be proved
The simple facts of life are such
They cannot be removed.]

You must remember this
A kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh.
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by.

And when two lovers woo
They still say, "I love you."
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by.

Moonlight and love songs
Never out of date.
Hearts full of passion
Jealousy and hate.
Woman needs man
And man must have his mate
That no one can deny.

It's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die.
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by.

Oh yes, the world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by.

August?

I KNOW it is August. I am simply mourning the passing of the fastest July in my lifetime! Where did it go?? It is so true what people claim..."the older you get the faster time flies."

I cannot sit a moment and write and read today...I must get out and do some "summery" activities!

Melancholy Monday

Melancholy = A pensive mood

Monday = The second official day of the week...the first day for most workers and those who go to school...oftentimes viewed or anticipated with dread.

I have, for many years, had a baby in the house. I define baby by a child that is in diapers, requires baby bottles, pacifiers and multiple contraptions (including a diaper bag) in order to function day to day. It has recently come to my attention that I NO LONGER have a baby in the house!! The realization that my kiddos are growing up came to me full force this weekend. My two oldest boys (who are NOT quite taller than me yet) made great show of exhibiting their brute strength by showing their father that they can pick ME up! This struck me very odd as it is impossible to count how many times I lifted/lugged/pulled/carried their little bodies from A to B to C over their short lifespans.
I am grateful for my growing, healthy kiddos but as everyone has told me they grow up in the blink of an eye!
