love at first sight

they were about 85 years old

they showed up to auction moving slowly but with purpose

they looked as if they had slept in their clothes a week

both had short cropped, greasy, white-yellow hair



neither had teeth nor did they wear dentures making them hollow cheeked

they interacted with each other in a loving way as they registered to bid


i saw him raise his hand to bid several times but paid no attention to what he bid on

this couple came up to pay for their prizes - i asked politely if they had gotten what they came for today

his eyes glowed with satisfaction

he said, "she wanted the gold bracelet and i wanted her to have it"

he was so proud as he handed me nine, hundred dollar bills

they held hands and talked as they left the building





*I do some work for an auction company. Auctions bring out ALL kinds of people from ALL walks of life. People watching is never a dull pass time. NEVER.

This and That...

I love colorful napkins in the kids' lunches...mine too for that matter. I found these today and brought them home! Makes a peanut butter sandwich TASTE better!

 

I found this fresh and light coffee table at the second hand store...LOVE!!!!

The "LITTLES" spend a great deal of time waiting in the car for the "BIG KIDS" and they DO find things to keep them busy...

 

Fresh multi-grain bread...I cannot stay away from it...plain, buttered, marmalade....it is TOO good!!!!!

I have been on a quest to make a GOOD whole grain sandwich bread...soft and not TOO crusty...I am almost THERE.

This "guy" was in my bathtub...he is fierce...

We are gardening again...I cannot take credit for THIS new project...it is gonna be a good one! We have so much space at The Glen...it is like a blank canvas when it comes to gardening/landscape projects!

Do you make meringue for your cream pies? My  mom does...she always makes it SO pretty and then says things like "oh, it shrunk" or it was "weepy" but what I see is a work of art....and...just so you know...I ATE IT.

Do not be deceived by the red, cheerful color of this seemingly innocent, bouncy play toy. It is NOT a toy.

In fact, it is an object of pain and torture...it is a STABILITY BALL...I fear it... 

How is your weather? We have had some gorgeous spring-like days here! LOVE!

Killing season...

THIS is the face of a cold blooded killer.

 Gizzie is the sweetest most "feminine" cat we have ever had...she has a sweet, quiet meow AND disposition.

With the onset of spring she has bounced back into nothing less than her annual KILLING SEASON.

She politely knocks on our front door (she clicks the door latch to let us know she needs something) and GLEEFULLY presents us with her daily kill. When it is a mouse or a mole I have to admit I am proud of her...even when she brings up a snake I muster up a "WELL DONE GIRLIE"  But, when it is a bunny, chipmunk or squirrel it is hard for me to voice my praise as they are so stinking cute! But, she is fulfilling her end of the contract by keeping Killeny Glen vermin free so I assure her she will get a good employee evaluation and to get back to work!

Making an effort...

With spring we are thinking HEALTHY around here...cleaning up some of the nasty junk food we tend to like and buy. So, we are starting with eliminating a LOT of the processed foods we are eating...it has been easier than we thought...although we have to do LOTS of reading!!!!

We are eating POUNDS of fresh veggies with hummus and salsas...and it is SOOOO good!

One of my favorite breakfasts right now is steel cut oats with apples, strawberries and raisins. YUM!

I want to drink water but MISS flavored waters, juices, sodas etc so have started adding slices of lemon, lime and pineapple to my water...it is DELICIOUS!

Uh, yep...we are even JUICING...I cannot even believe it! Do not KNOCK IT till you TRY IT. Bob is our juice master here....he can whip up some super amazing concoctions and even have the kids drinking them too. Um...just for the sake of SAYING this...

I hate beets....

no...LISTEN...I hate them.

I tried beets...and I tried them again....

and they are HORRIBLE...do YOU like them?  

Yep...even pizza can be healthy...we put ALL KINDS of veggie toppings on and I make a pretty mean whole grain crust that is NOT like eating saw dust...it has to be THIN and CRISP....I am ANTI saw dust.

OH! And...this post will NOT be complete until you SEE what I am running in these days...AREN'T THEY FREAKING amazing!?!?!? It just so happens that MY Easter Bunny is my number one reader....yep he is...and these BAD BOYS were waiting for me on Easter morning! I am spoiled. 100% spoiled.  These shoes make my minutes running a little more enthusiastic! And, YEP...my Easter Bunny is THE BEST!

It's APRIL.
It is the NINTH of April.
I have found it hard to write and blog AND do the other things that people seem to think are NECESSARY in life!

The clear blue sky has been amazing and incredibly ENTICING.

The kids CANNOT wait to be outside...what is it about spring? It is so wonderful!

Camden is thrilled to have a crowd of people eager to throw her tennis ball. SHE IS OBSESSED!

My favorite fire starter kicked off the season with a bonfire...The Glen has enough sticks and branches down to fuel MANY fires! Sitting around the fire is one of my FAVORITE things to do with this guy! All he needs to say is he is going to start a bonfire and everyone pours outta the house! LOVE THAT.

Oh how I love a CHICK that can drive a tractor!!! GIRL POWER!

Flynn supervised the afternoon and made sure NOT to exert himself too much...
