Outta the night...

The weather has been AMAZING here in the Midwest. We are outside enjoying it every chance we can get. Taking in all the new blooms and lush green grass is absolutely wonderful. As we walked the other night THIS creature appeared...

dark....and ominous...

walking with great stealth...

purposefully getting closer and closer...

no danger there...just Flynn, wanting his belly rubbed...

Life is SO hard for Flynn living at The Glen.

Have a wonderful weekend!

PURE JOY!

Everyone has their "therapy." It can be with a real therapist or friend or it can be something we DO that is indulgent and satisfying. Something that helps us feel happiness and grounds us in a way that we crave even if it is for a brief, few moments. I have many things I do that I consider "therapy" but one thing I can indulge in that includes my children is....

play doh

it is colorful

it is soft

it is fragrant

it is messy (but not too much!)

molding it is soothing and satisfying

it is full of potential and imagination and just plain FUN.
No kids around? Go buy a container of play doh. You will NOT be sorry.

What is one of YOUR therapies?

To overlook the little things in life
is to miss the biggest part of
life itself.

Have a wonderful weekend friends!

Luck of the Irish to ye!

May those who love us, love us
And those who don't love us,
May God turn their hearts
And if He can't turn their hearts,
May He turn their ankles
So we will know them by their limping!

Sickness at The Glen has certainly put a damper on the events of the last two weeks but we will NOT miss celebratin' our dear old St. Pat's Day!
Put on a little green won't ya??!

"Deer" neighbor...

Please put away your "Deer dummy" it distracts me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME I drive by...in our part of the country, deer are leaping across roads and causing accidents every single day. There are REAL deer everywhere ALL the time!

And, he is a bit tacky don't ya think??

Unwanted guests...

We have had such an unusually mild winter.

I had just said to Bob that we have had an illness-free winter!

And then...THEY came home with Sam from school.

THEY are staying TOO long and wanting to be friends with everyone.

I hope this Thursday finds you well!

Super Tuesday is DONE. Now, remove all these HORRIBLE, ugly signs from the landscape!
They are trashing up the place!!!!

I never claim to be a good photographer but there is NO WAY to make all these signs look good!

Mundane Monday

I am celebrating the ordinary today.
Cause ordinary is extraordinary when you embrace it and celebrate it.

Midnight Sun Coffee...it is rich and delicious. The BEST way to start a Monday.
Order some from Equal Exchange Coop.

Driving on a sunny day is a treat. I am grateful for a vehicle that gets me where I need to go. No sun here today...just as we predicted, SNOW in March!

Chocolate and cranberry plaid FLANNEL sheets...warm, cozy...heaven.

Chicken and Stars is BETTER when eaten with a straw.

Bob gifted me with Godetia. It is the epitome of spring. Bright, cheery, fragrant. Energizing.

I love this creature. THIS is Jewels. Yes, she is a large rodent. Each morning when I go in to wake up Madeleine, Jewels squeals in delight at the sound of my voice. Then I HAVE to give her a treat and tickle her chin.

Have a good Monday ALL!

A salad that ROCKS the Glen!

My favorite magazine is Real Simple. The name says it all! I had to share this salad that we have been rockin' here at The Glen. It is THAT good!

Ingredients:

3/4 cup quick-cooking barley
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
kosher salt and black pepper
1 medium head romaine lettuce, torn into bite-size pieces (about 8 cups)
1 15-ounce can lentils, rinsed (I used dry - easy to cook up!)
1 large carrot, cut into matchsticks
1/4 small red onion, chopped
1/4 cup chopped pitted kalamata olives (DELISH!)
1/4 English cucumber, chopped
2 ounces goat cheese, crumbled (1/2 cup) (Feta is good too!)

Directions:

Cook the barley according to the package directions. Drain and run under cold water to cool.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together the oil, lemon juice, and ½ teaspoon each salt and pepper.
In a medium bowl, toss the lettuce with half the lemon dressing. In a second medium bowl, toss the barley, lentils, carrot, onion, olives, and cucumber with the remaining lemon dressing. Serve the barley/lentil mixture over the lettuce and sprinkle with the goat cheese.

This salad is packed with good stuff and is SO GOOD!
