What makes a lovely weekend....

We kicked off the weekend with a SNOW DAY on Friday due to heavy ice in the wee hours of the morning. It is a joyful thing for us to have our kids trickle in to our bedroom to ask WHY we did not wake them! No one was disappointed to stay home!

Some other highlights were:

A wonderful Mushroom and Barley Soup from Real Simple. It is PERFECT for a COLD winter's evening.  (I added some grilled chicken which just ADDS to its GOODNESS.)

A lovely afternoon nap. BOTH Saturday and Sunday! I am enjoying having older kids these days!

A glass of wine and lots of laughter with dear friends.
A hot, bubbly bath!

STROMBOLI!

A good book - Kosher Chinese by Michael Levy is my latest...Bob passed it on to me and it keeps me laughing.
And of course, a Latte...made special by my favorite guy...come on...anyone that KNOWS me must anticipate COFFEE in a list of what makes a good weekend!

And, last but not least....our LAST basketball game of the season. We do LOVE basketball!!!!
We had TWO number 5 players this season and a really cute cheerleader!
How was YOUR weekend????

Friday....the week went by so fast...the month of February as well as we have already celebrated Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day.

I am basking in a festive table set for my family and the smiles on their faces as they banter back and forth over a special dinner prepared just for them  - those who are loved MOST by me. I have a sense of complete contentedness when they are ALL home sharing a meal and enjoying each others company. Bob and I exchange looks with each other at the dinner table as we both love them all so intensely and feel blessed by each of their unique and individual approaches to...well...everything!

I am gleeful at the idea of another three day weekend. SO WELCOME and we all get to have work and school OFF. Absolutely invigorating!

Have a wonderful weekend!

I used to blog daily...or on busy weeks 3-5 times per week.

I have been consumed with other things...
I like it.
It is fulfilling. At least MOST the time. (I do NOT like emptying the dishwasher among other repetitive chores but that is another post isn't it?)

Drinking coffee with my best friend...LOTS of it. I talk about coffee a lot. What does that say about me?
Yeah...I know...caffeine is not good for me.

We love to run around and try new restaurants or haunt old ones that have delectable things!

I loved watching this chef cut fresh herbs for my....

...frittata....which was...OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious! I ate EVERY SINGLE bite on this plate...well come on...YOU WOULDA TOO...well...I did share a bite or two...I am not ALL that selfish.

At the market they had fresh brussel sprouts like THIS...is that not awesome!??? Hey, if you are saying GROSS to brussel sprouts...try them again...AMAZING baked in the oven with olive oil, fresh squeezed lemon juice and kosher salt....I tell you AMAZING!

We have also been spending MANY hours watching our favorite basketball players!

Thanks for visiting! I love your company!
