I pulled out onto our empty rural highway and quickly picked up speed to about 60 headed to run some Christmas errands. I glanced up in my rearview mirror to see a small 4x4 truck come over the hill at HIGH speed. It was closing in on me at a speed I could not begin to guess...okay...I WILL guess...WARP 1,000,0000.
As the lady realized that she could not pass me she began to lay on her horn....not once...not twice but over and over. I live in the country...narrow, winding roads...NOT many opportunities to pass and add on top of that an occasional piece of farm equipment inching along.
Because the lady was literally feet from my back bumper I could CLEARLY see her face. She was SCREAMING obscenities, her face red and contorted...her arms were flailing violently and she would, on occasion, POUND the steering wheel.
I began to worry she would lose control of her car.
In the meantime I had come up behind a line of cars and the line had slowed down to about 35mph. This proved only to infuriate her further...and the violent display continued...after my initial shock I began to wish I could video tape this wild display of temper tantrum. No toddler I have ever seen could have out done her performance.
Then as soon as it began, it was OVER. I turned right. She drove by screaming and laying on the horn moving up close to her next victim who happened to be in the line in front of me.
And then I thought,
Life is TOO short.
There is NO WHERE I need to be that is WORTH that kind of display.
Life, is just TOO short.
ENJOY EACH MOMENT.
We lost our Sweet Salem today to the same road this lady was raging on...a sad day for us. This is one of the first photos we took of our little fur baby. I have to tell the kiddos when I pick them up from school today. Remind me again of WHY we have pets?
